High End Zone is Southwest New Mexico's premier Home Theater and High-End Audio dealer. We want to be your one stop shop for all your audio and home theater needs. Many of us now have a digital library of music or a desire to make the transition. We explored this arena for awhile and to serve you in the best way we have found, we became dealers for Aurender. Ever since we got our demo N10 installed we have been listening to our system much more often, thanks to the convenience of the system. It takes all of one minute to find an album and pick out a track, as opposed to having to find a CD, put it in a transport, then fiddle around to find the right track. We think Aurender makes an excellent product, and are excited to have the oppurtunity to sell their units to both new and existing customers. Below we have some recommendations for which units fit into which types of systems.

Aurender's main line is comprised of the following music servers

The N100H is the most affordable and smallest of Aurender's music servers. It is made with either a 2TB or a 4TB drive. The N100H's only output is a USB 2.0 port, making it somewhat restricted in connecting to your DAC. However, this dedicated USB Audio Class 2.0 output is designed to deliver an exceptionally transparent audio signal free of noise and is shielded from outside electronic interference. The N100H has a full linear power supply which provides clean and stable power to the CPU circuit and audio output circuit.

The X100L is next up the line and is available with a 6TB or 12TB drive. The X100 digital music player incorporates many innovations originally developed for the higher priced Aurender S10 and W20 models, including a solid-state drive cache for playback which eliminates jitter, latency and electrical/acoustic noise from spinning hard drives and compact disks. The high performance USB Audio Class 2.0 digital audio output was developed using the same engineering as the USB outputs on the flagship Aurender W20. An excellent option for a small system but a large collection.

The A10 is more than just a music player. It's also a DAC and it has a volume control with remote, though it does sound better with a whole preamp if you already have one or want to buy one. All you absolutely need for a whole system could be an A10, an amp or two, and some speakers. The A10 uses the same caching SSD system as the X100L. For the DAC the A10 uses Dual 768KHz/32bit Next Generation Flagship AK4490 DAC Chips. Aurender designed the A10 to have four seperate toroidal power transformers, for the storage, the digital stage, and each DAC to keep the system noise level as low as possible. The A10 does have a USB audio out if you have your own DAC you'd like to use, it even has optical digital in so you can use it as a DAC for other components as well. The A10 is also fully MQA enabled both as a streamer/player, and as a DAC. This is currently the only Aurender with MQA, but people really seem to love the A10, and MQA is a part of that, so I expect Aurender will integrate MQA on their other prodducts in the future.

At the inaugural LA Audio Show 2017, we used our demo A10 alongside a W20. We paired the W20 with the Ypsilon DAC 100, while we used the A10's own DAC. These were then all passed through a Ypsilon PST 100 MK II, a pair of Ypsilon Aelius II monoblocks, and a pair of Perfect8 Point MK III loudspeakers. Please check out our Trade Shows page to learn more about our rooms at the LA Audio Show.
The A10 won an Alfie Award for being one of the Best of Electronics at the show.

The N10, as pictured above and below, is a substantial upgrade from the N100 or X100, although it does only come with a 4TB drive. The N10's main upgrades are in outputs. It adds a coaxial digital, optical digital and AES/EBU output. In addition it is the first Aurender to feature Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillators (OCXO), with normal crystal oscillators temperature fluctuations cause jitter and they degrade significantly in accuracy over time. With OCXO the oscillator is enclosed in a compartment and kept at a constant temperature to nullify these effects. The Aurender N10 is also the only Music Player to support on-the-fly precision DSD to PCM conversion by FPGA. These features demonstrate that the N10 was designed to be used with high performance digital-to-analog converters. With 4TB of (2TBx2) internal hard disk drives and one 240GB solid-state drive cache for playback, the N10 is the perfect solution for even the most extensive high resolution music collections.

For a high end system where you don't feel the need for the W20's increased storage and extra features, the N10 is your best bet.

The W20 is Aurender's flagship music server. It has a number of extra features above and beyond the other units making it well worth the higher price tag. Firstly, it runs off of two sets of batteries, with one running the unit and the other charging. This isolates it from ground noise and the jitter caused by converting AC to DC power. A third set of batteries works as a built in UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) so that there's never any risk of your data being corrupted when the W20 has its power cut abruptly. Designed to be used with high performance digital-to-analog converters, the Aurender W20 is one of the few Music Players to support external word clocks used in recording studios, and dual-wire mode used by many reference digital-to-analog converters to separate transmission of left and right channels for better fidelity. It is also the only Aurender unit to have AES/EBU dual link outputs. The W20 fits well into a cost no object system, but is still much more affordable than other products that fill the same role, along with having the best front end software that I have ever seen, just like all the Aurenders.

Aurender also sells the X725 which is an integrated DAC, preamp, and stereo power amp. Using an X725 along with one of the servers above is perfect for a super compact setup with only two boxes and a pair of speakers, which is great if you don't have the space for four or five components like we had in our penthouse suite at T.H.E. Show Newport 2016.
At T.H.E. Show Newport 2016, we used a full loom of the latest and best Verastarr cables, along with Acoustic Zen Maestro speakers, Ypsilon electronics (including the world premiere of the Aelius II monoblocks) and the Aurender W20 music server. We were ready for Press Day and appreciated the reviews we received of our room, some of which are here:

"This room was my show favorite."- Don Schaulis, Stereo Times

"Many aspects of the Acoustic Zen/Aurender/Ypsilon system from High End Zone of New Mexico were exemplary. On my 24/192 file of Mason Bates' "Alternative Energy," found on the recent SF Symphony SACD Mason Bates: Works for Orchestra, I actually heard greater depth than on my reference system."- Jason Victor Serinus, Stereophile
If you did not make it to our room, please enjoy a virtual listen by watching this AV Showrooms video.

And, if you are ready to dive into the digital music realms with Aurender, John Stancavage's review of our room for Part-Time Audiophile will give you lots of good information. He shares that our "sound was very clean, dynamic and liquid. Even though it was digital, it seemed to have the depth and texture of analog, without the extra warmth or pops and clicks."
